Animal Welfare Science Symposium 2024

conferences |

Welcome to the 7th Annual Animal Welfare Science Symposium 3-4 June 2024. Animal welfare science is a multidisciplinary subject. To advance the broad subject of animal welfare, researchers need to meet and discuss their results and ideas. These symposia are intended to be a friendly scientific forum for such discussion. Both natural and social scientists are welcome.

This symposium will be a mixture of longer plenary talks from invited speakers, shorter talks and group discussions. People are also welcome to present preliminary results. The symposium will start directly after lunch the 3rd of June and finish in mid-afternoon June 4th.

This years invited speakers are:

Prof Daniel Mills (Lincoln University, UK) is a veterinary specialist in clinical animal behaviour. His research involves developing new interventions for behaviour problems.

Prof Jean-Loup Rault (University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna) is an ethologist. His main research interest lies in the benefits of positive social behaviour (‘prosocial behaviour’) in animals.

Prof. Helena Hansson (SLU) in agricultural and food economics. She has worked extensively with interdisciplinary approaches and research questions related to farm economic performance, farm diversification and the management of animal health and welfare.
