internal events | internal staff education | seminars, workshops |

Embarking on a research career opens doors to a myriad of professional opportunities, both within and beyond academia. To learn more about various career paths, the SLU Postdoc Association (SLUPA) and SLU Grants Office invite you to a webinar, where we will delve into the diverse career paths available to researchers and explore strategies for success in different sectors.

This webinar will feature a panel of invited speakers who all started out as researchers in academia, after which they followed diverse career tracks, pursuing positions in academia, publishing, governmental agencies, and entrepreneurship. After brief presentations by the speakers, we will commence in a panel discussion, where you will be able to ask questions about career development and our panellists will share their personal experiences and provide advice for pursuing alternative career paths.

The panel will consist of (will be expanded before the event):

  • Charles Melnyk, Professor at the Department of Plant Biology, SLU
  • Ninad Bondre, Senior Editor, Sustainability Research & Initiatives, Cell Press
  • Michael Schneider, Large Carnivore Specialist, County Administrative Board of Västerbotten County
  • Sofia Mayans, Senior Innovation & Business Advisor at SLU Holding and Interim CEO at Vakona
  • Linnea Hansson, Researcher in Forest operations (and SLU alumni), The Forestry Research Institute of Sweden (Skogforsk)
