Fate and Effects of Microplastics in Soils

seminars, workshops |
Microscope image of microplastics

Where do microplastics in agricultural soils come from? Where do they go? What happens to them when they are in our soils? Can we measure plastics in soils? Are these plastics harmful to our soils? Following the defence of Wiebke Mareile Heinze on Microplastic distribution and transport in Agricultural Soils on 10th of October, we have gathered her opponent, assessment committee and co-supervisors for exciting lectures on the fate and ecotoxicology of microplastics in soils.

The Department of Soil and Environment is proud to have Wiebke Mareile Heinze defending her doctoral work on the 10th of October. Her opponent, assessment committee, co-supervisors and some of her colleagues have agreed to share some of the latest insights in fate and ecotoxicology of microplastics in soils. We also aim to spur fruitful academic and other discussions to bring clarity on the issue and identify where research should do better to fill relevant knowledge gaps. The workshop is financed by the department of Soil and is arranged in the context of projects financed by Formas and EJP Soil (EOM4Soil).
