Important future issues for the faculty and how I can contribute

  • It is a privilege to be a recruited professor at SLU. However, to be a slightly more junior researcher implies harsher conditions, and therefore we should do our best to become more attractive for “intermediately young” researchers.
  • We should continue to develop our work to obtain more equal opportunities.
  • We should make our education more attractive to potential students.
  • There is a need for harmonising routines among faculties.

Personal reflections

As a head of the subject area Conservation Biology, I have prioritized:

  • More collaboration in the group and with colleagues in Uppsala, Alnarp, and Umeå.
  • Broaden the research regarding questions and methods, which improves quality.
  • Ph D eduction.
  • More distance courses, to reach students all over Sweden.
  • Webinars that communicate research outcomes to practitioners.
