SLU increases wellness allowance

The wellness allowance has been SEK 2,000 since 2017. The increase means that SLU staff will have more support for activities that promote health and wellbeing.

The decision to increase the allowance was made to bring SLU's benefit more in line with the level offered by other higher education institutions and government agencies.

In 2025, 66 per cent of SLU staff used the wellness allowance. The corresponding figure was 71 per cent in 2024.

The cost of the increase is estimated at approximately SEK 2.5–3 million per year, assuming that the number of employees and the proportion using the allowance remain at roughly the same level as in previous years. The cost is charged to the organisational unit where the employee claiming the allowance is employed.

The decision was made by Vice-Chancellor Maria Knutson Wedel following a presentation by Deputy Director of Human Resources Birgitta Hellmark Lindgren.
