Great interest in SLU Aqua's courses for the fall semester of 2025

Published: 02 September 2025
Three people in a laboratory setting are studying a fish, with one person holding the fish with blue gloves while the other two observe closely.

Interest in SLU Aqua’s courses is growing – and compared to last year, the increase is significant. Especially exciting is that our Master’s courses, which previously had fewer students, are now attracting many more.

– It is great that there is such an increase in interest in our courses, especially in our Master’s courses which previously had fewer students, despite receiving high ratings from them. Showing that our courses are popular is the foundation for being able to expand the course offerings at the department. Our task now is to continue maintaining high quality, even with more students in the classroom, says Örjan Östman Director of Studies at SLU Aqua.

Number of registrations in 2025 compared to 2024

  • Ecology for fish management and conservation: 29 (2024: 10).
  • Principles for fisheries science: 19 (2024: 7).
  • Where have all the fish gone: 43 (2024: 34).
