News in brief from the faculty board meeting on 11 December

Published: 12 December 2025

The final faculty board meeting of the year has taken place and below is a summary of the key items.

New docents

The faculty board appointed five new associate professors following the autumn’s docent lectures:

  • Ingrid Strid, subject area: technology
  • Malte Rödl, subject area: environmental communication
  • Nicolas Chazot, subject area: biology with a specialisation in ecology
  • Reza Belaghi, subject area: biometry
  • Sara Holmgren, subject area: environmental communication

The board also appointed Tomas Roslin as a new member of the Docent Appointment Board, succeeding Brendan McKie, who has recently become a member of the Academic Appointment Board.

Delegation of authority

The faculty board approved an updated version of the document commonly referred to as the faculty’s delegation of authority. This document clarifies which vice-deans, boards, committees and other bodies are to exist within the faculty, as well as the powers delegated to these bodies and to the heads of department.

Recruitment matters

The faculty board decided to recruit a senior lecturer in rural development, and to advertise a position as associate senior lecturer in data-driven evolution and biodiversity. The latter position forms part of a major initiative by SciLifeLab in data-driven life science research, in which SLU has so far been allocated three positions with substantial financial resources.

The board also appointed external experts for the following recruitment matters:

  • associate senior lecturer in crop production ecology
  • associate senior lecturer in organic environmental chemistry
  • promotion to senior lecturer in plant biochemistry
