Published: 06 September 2024

SLU EDU Talks, SLU's podcast in higher education pedagogy, releases new episode.

Edutalks - Episode 18, Working on Student Well-being – A Dynamic Process in Veterinary Education

(In Swedish)

Welcome to another exciting episode of Edutalks.

Helene Hamlin and Karin Vargmar are both program directors for the veterinary program at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). What they also share is a deep commitment to improving the study environment and promoting student well-being. This involves, among other things, reducing negative stress and helping students manage the complex and challenging aspects that are inevitably part of their studies and future careers as veterinarians.

In this episode of Edutalks, Jan Stockfors discusses with Helene and Karin how they address these issues in their roles as program directors and educators. Helene and Karin generously share their experiences, providing numerous examples of how they have tackled various elements and factors that significantly impact student well-being. There is much to learn here, even for those of us working in entirely different fields.
