Mukesh Dubey, Paul Egan and Paul Becher have received research grants for their projects on plant protection from Formas' annual open call.

Formas funds research for ecologically, economically and socially sustainable societal development. The research should also contribute to meeting the global sustainability goals. On November 25, Formas announced which projects had received funding.

Projects on sustainable wheat production, pollination and biocontrol with hoverflies

Mukesh Dubey from the Department of forest mycology and plant pathology has received 3 million SEK to work with sustainable wheat production by taking advantade of the interactions between plant, soil and microorganisms. Paul Becher from the Department of plant protection biology will investigate how insects' sense of smell and behavior can be integrated in biological control with hoverflies. He too has received three million kronor. Paul Egan, also from the Department of plant protection biology, has received 4 million SEK for the project "Push-pull pollination: a precision innovation to improve the production of food crops".

The research supported by Formas must be of the highest scientific quality, have the potential to be useful in society in the short or long term and can refer to all levels of society.
