Master's student in environmental communication appointed Global Swede 2018

Andrea María Cantillo Carrero, student at the international master's program in environmental communication, received the Global Swede diploma.

On Tuesday May 8, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Swedish Institute, held an award ceremony for the recipients of this years Global Swede diplomas.

One of the recipients was Andrea María Cantillo Carrero, student at the international master’s program Environmental Communication and Management.

During the ceremony the Minister for EU Affairs and Trade Ann Linde, Director-General of the Swedish Institute Annika Rembe and the Head of the Department for Trade Promotion, Nation Branding and CSR Camilla Mellander acknowledged 20 international graduate students from 17 countries who have studied in Sweden. These students have excelled within areas related to innovation and entrepreneurship and have also proved to be good representatives for their own countries as well as for Sweden.

In the motivation for Andrea María Cantillo Carrero’s award: ”[…] a brilliant example of SLU’s idea of education for sustainability; excellent student achievements, participation in student representations and  a great involvement with environmental and social issues. Her Facebook page, with 2000 followers, engages in raising the awareness of each individual’s actual capacity to limit the climate changes.  An issue she also addresses in her master’s thesis”.
