Interdisciplinary meeting on land use strategies in Gothenburg

Published: 06 March 2018

In the beginning of March, AgriFoSe2030 and GCGD (Gothenburg Centre for Globalization and Development) held a seminar on multifunctional landscapes and patterns of land use.

The seminar aimed to facilitate discussions of patterns of land use and forestry strategies in National Determined Contributions (NDCs), both from an international cross-cutting perspective, and in the form of six case studies from low- and middle-income countries.

The presenters and attendees was made up of an interdisciplinary group of researchers from academic institutions, including Arne Bigsten, Professor in Development Economics at the University of Gothenburg, and Professor N H Ravindranath from the Indian Institute of Science.

– One outcome of the seminar was feedback for the case study of Ethiopia and it’s NDC implementation into their national policies, and the discussion around it was very productive for the continued work on the report before its submission in a few months, says Daniel Ternald, one of the organizers.
