In the Vice-Chancellor’s blog: Are universities inefficient?

Published: 01 December 2017

In a recent blog post, Vice-Chancellor Peter Högberg discusses how  universities and university colleges, including SLU, do not fully put their funds and grants to use.

The Swedish National Audit Office (Riksrevisionen) reports that public universities and higher education institutions have saved over SEK 12 billion in unspent funding and other surpluses. According to the report, SLU has saved SEK 700 million. In the long run, a constant surplus is problematic.

– We are responsible for using allocated funds, not saving them, says Vice-Chancellor Peter Högberg.
