James Kurén Weldon

James Kurén Weldon
I am a researcher at the Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment, and Head of Programme Centre for ICP Integrated Monitoring, a network of European sites focussed on monitoring the ecological effects of atmospheric pollutants. I am also the co-ordinator for SLU's environmental monitoring and assessment programme focussed on alpine and arctic habitats (FOMA Fjäll/Arktis).

Presentation

My research focus is on the deposition of atmospheric pollutants as disturbance factors. I am particularly interested in how eutrophication and acidification affect vegetation community stability. My other main focus is environmental monitoring: in addition to my role as co-ordinator for SLU's environmental monitoring and assessment programme focussed on alpine and arctic habitats (FOMA Fjäll/Arktis), I am active in the ICP Integrated Monitoring and eLTER networks. ICP IM is a body under the United Nations Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution, and the Programme Centre is based at SLU. eLTER is the Integrated European long-term ecosystem, critical zone, and socio- ecological system research infrastructure (eLTER RI).
