Felix Ecker

Presentation
I am a lecturer in mathematical statistics at the Department of Forest Resource Management, where I work in teaching and statistical consultation. I received my PhD in statistics from Umeå University, where I researched methods for causal inference in functional data analysis. I also have a background in sociology.
Teaching
I am primarily teaching on the courses Science theory and method, Mathematical Statistics with forest applications and the PhD course Basic Statistics. I enjoy teaching immensely and have a strong interest in pedagogical development.
In addition to teaching courses, I also offer statistical consultation to students writing their theses.
Research
The two main themes of my previous research were the development of methods for causal inference and missing data in functional data analysis (FDA), and the use of FDA methods in the study of income trajectories. In the applied parts of my research, I studied the effects of the conditions surrounding labour market entry on subsequent income accumulation over large parts of the life course. I have a strong interest in scientific communication and making research results accessible to broader audiences.
I currently do not conduct any research of my own at SLU, but I am available as a statistical consultant for other research projects.
Background
I hold a PhD in statistics (2024) and a Master's degree in sociology (2016) from Umeå University.
