Inauguration of solar panels at Ultuna

internal events |

We have built 5 462 square meters of solar panels – come celebrate with us!

Our landlord Akademiska Hus has installed a lot of new solar panels on the roofs of Ultuna. Now we have 6 696 square meters of solar panels in total. Now SLU and Akademiska Hus wants you to celebrate this by inviting you to eat hotdogs and take a tour on the roof of VHC.

We'll serve hotdogs at 11:30 outside of VHC on September 2nd, both hotdogs and vegetarian sausages. Martin Melkersson from SLU and Peter Bohman from Akademiska Hus will also make a short opening speech (in Swedish).
The rooftop tours start at 12:00, 12:30 and 13:00.
You have to register to attend. First come, first served.

SLU has decided that the university should be climate neutral in 2027. Because of this  Akademiska Hus thinks it is extra fun to make investments at SLU.

Additional info:

Solar panels alone will not be able to make SLU's buildings climate neutral. In the long term, the energy consumption in the houses must be lowered. Campus Ultuna currently consumes about 12 million kWh / year, which means that about 8 % of consumption is covered by the electricity produced by the solar cells now installed.

Akademiska Hus aims to reduce the purchased energy in the buildings of the higher education institutions throughout the country by 50 % by the year 2025, compared with the 2000 level. In 2018, energy consumption at Ultuna had decreased by 35 %.
