CRU offers seed money for reproductive biology research applications and pilot studies

The Centre for Reproductive Biology in Uppsala (CRU) is a joint body between the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and Uppsala University that aims to increase knowledge on animal and human reproduction by applying a comprehensive view on reproductive biology. To strengthen Uppsala's research network within reproductive biology, CRU now offers seed money for collaborative research applications and pilot studies. If of strong strategic relevance for CRU, writing time for review or original articles could be granted funds.

About the call

Proposals must include collaboration between the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and Uppsala University (UU). The main applicant must have a PhD degree and currently be affiliated to one of the two universities. Priority will be given to prospective comprehensive research applications and pilot studies that are of scientific importance to the reproductive biology field.

Review of proposals will be performed by reviewers appointed by the CRU board, and up to three proposals will be awarded maximum 50 000 SEK each, to be used within one year.

How to apply and deadline

Submit a proposal to cru@slu.se no later than November 1, 2019. Describe background and purpose, implementation, time schedule, collaborations and budget, approximately 2 A4 pages. Include CVs and indicate a maximum of five relevant publications, maximum 2 A4 pages for each person involved. Indicate an account at UU or SLU where granted funds can be deposited.

Assessment criteria and decision

Proposals will be assessed for the following criteria: Scientific relevance for the area of reproductive biology, strategic relevance to CRU, including promotion of collaboration between UU and SLU, scientific quality of the project, novelty and originality, merits of the applicants, and feasibility of the project. Decisions will be announced, and grants made available, in December.
