Important future issues for the faculty and how I can contribute

As dean, I want to enhance and strengthen the academic environment to promote high-quality research, qualitative and effective education, and excellent animal healthcare. My goal is to create good working conditions for our staff, our most valuable asset, by securing resources, optimizing processes, and fostering a collaborative culture.

I aim to streamline administrative tasks, enable more time for core activities, and provide stability after recent departmental restructuring, ensuring our staff can focus on research, teaching, and clinical work. A key focus will be on improving and optimizing our infrastructures: the animal hospital, research farms, and laboratory facilities.

A top priority is to work towards re-accrediting our animal hospital by the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE), which is of utmost importance for maintaining our international standing and ensuring the quality of our veterinary education.

By prioritizing staff well-being, professional development, and effective use of our key infrastructures, I believe we can strengthen our faculty's capacity for impactful work in research, education, and animal healthcare.

Personal reflections

As a leader, I believe in the extraordinary potential of our staff and am committed to providing them with the best conditions to succeed across all areas of our faculty. My leadership style is encouraging and trust-based, while also being clear about priorities to ensure we move in the right direction.

I value open communication and actively listen to diverse perspectives before making decisions, as I believe this leads to more robust and inclusive outcomes. In my role, I see myself as an advocate for both our operations and our employees, always striving to balance the needs of the faculty with the well-being of our staff.

My background in leadership, both in academia and politics, has taught me the importance of adaptability, strategic thinking, and the power of collaboration in achieving common goals.

I am excited about the opportunity to bring these skills and values to the role of dean, where I can contribute to shaping a vibrant and successful future for our faculty.
