Hosted by Dr. Bernard Triomphe from CIRAD, a hybrid workshop took place in Palmira from 17 to 21 of March at Agrosavia’s research center.
The workshop created a space for Agrosavia researchers to exchange both individual and collective experiences, with a focus on Participatory Action Research (PAR). It aimed to build a strong foundation in the concepts and methods needed to support innovation and change at multiple levels, using PAR — a collaborative approach designed to address complex challenges alongside diverse actors, including those from research and academia. Far from a purely theoretical exercise, the workshop encouraged reflection and practical thinking among researchers committed to driving change in food systems. Beginning in June 2025 and continuing through mid-2026, PAR activities will be implemented across all four territories, contributing to the development of action plans for sustainable food systems.
Researchers prepared roadmaps to implement PAR in their territories as part of the workshop. These PAR cover a wide range of topics, including strategies to scale up bio-input use, promote family farming food networks that reduce market imbalances, support small-scale rural agro-industries, find alternatives for integrated water resource management, boost the viability of family farms, improve income distribution along value chains, and reduce food dependency.
