Nominations for the SLU Board now open

Nominations are now open for SLU's Board of Governors for the term commencing 1 May 2026 and concluding 30 April 2028. The deadline for submission is 14 December.

The SLU Board is responsible for the overall direction and budget of the university's activities. Of the 15 board members, three represent teachers and researchers; these three positions are now subject to an election. Only those who belong to the electoral assembly and those who are eligible to vote may nominate candidates (see Facts).

Who can be nominated?

The SLU Board has decided that those eligible for election to the SLU Board are the same individuals who belong to the electoral assemblies of the Faculty Boards.

Candidates must confirm their acceptance of the nomination. Nominations must include a brief statement (no more than 100 words) outlining the person's suitability for the role. Please send your nomination to valberedning24-27@slu.se.

What happens next?

  • Following the 14 December deadline, the nomination committee (see Facts section) will review the submissions.
  • The committee's proposals and the candidate presentations will be published in January.
  • The election will be conducted electronically between 16 February and 1 March 2026.
  • The newly elected representatives will commence their term of office on 1 May 2026.

Electoral college and SLU's nomination committee

In order to be part of the electoral assembly an employee must:

  • Work at least 50% of a full-time position (FTE).
  • Hold a position as: professor, senior lecturer, associate senior lecturer, researcher, environmental assessment specialist, postdoctor, lecturer, analyst, research group leader, experiment group leader, field mycologist or field pathologist.

The following are entitled to vote

  • the electoral assebly.
  • those with a doctorate who are employed at a faculty.
