To fertilise or not to fertilise the forest? Forest fertilization is once again on the agenda, and is suggested not only as a way to increase forest growth, but also as a measure to mitigate climate change.

What do we know about the effects of forest fertilisation in practice? What are the pros and cons, and were does the added nitrogen actually end up?
