The SLU Committee for Global Animal Diseases invites you to a seminar entitled “Organoids as models for infectious disease”.
Infectious disease is a common problem in animal production worldwide and is further complicated by the development of drug resistance by several pathogens. Lately, organoids, in vitro cultured 3D organ-like systems, have been developed and used to study host-pathogen interaction.
In this seminar, you will learn more about how organoids can be used to study infections with bacteria, parasites and viruses.
Speakers
- Bert Devriendt, Ghent University – Investigating interactions of pathogenic coli with the host epithelium using porcine enteroids
- Mikael Sellin, Uppsala University – Resolving Gut Bacterial Infection Dynamics using Human Enteroids and Colonoids
- Jana Grüttner, Uppsala University – Host-parasite interactions between Giardia intestinalis and human intestinal organoids
- Marie Hagbom, Lindköping University – Human nose organoids as a model to study respiratory infections
