Environmental objectives for the MVM Center

Last changed: 09 June 2020

An important part of the environmental work at MVM is the establishment of environmental goals, and the efforts to reach those goals. MVM has environmental goals for business travel and education. SLU has additional goals, which apply to the entire university.

Reduce carbon dioxide emissions from travel

Goal and Monitoring

The MVM centre will contribute to the SLU goal to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from business travel, partly by reducing emissions from domestic air travel.

  • Reduce carbon dioxide emissions from travel by 10% per full-time employee before the end of 2020, compared to 2013.
    • In 2019, the emissions had been reduced by 24%.
  • Reduce carbon dioxide emissions from domestic air travel by 20% per full-time employee by the end of 2020, compared to 2013.
    • In 2019, the emissions had been reduced by 55%.

Relate content in undergraduate education to sustainable development

Goal and Monitoring

  • At least 80% of all course coordinators/teachers, and directors of undergraduate and postgraduate studies to take part in a one-day training (workshop) for sustainable development by the end of 2020.
    • In 2019 about 47% of named positions had participated in such a training.
  • By the end of 2020, should at least 70% of the responses in course evaluations be positive (4 out of 5 on a graded scale) to the question on whether sustainability was integrated in the education, for all courses where responsible teacher belongs to any of the MVM departments.
    • In 2017, the average was 4,08, in 2018 it was 4,00 and in 2019 it was 4,16.
