The proposal that was submitted to the ERANET-funded AquaticPollutants Joint Transnational Call “Risks posed to human health and the environment by pollutants and pathogens present in water resources” got selected for funding.
Grant amount: 1025000 € (VR contribution to Swedish partner: 500 000 Euros)
Main coordinator is Karolinska Institute. Main applicant from SLU (HUV) is Kartik Baruah with co-applicant Parisa Norouzitallab.
Other partners: NTNU-Norway; ILVO-Belgium and Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Clinical Sciences, Spain.
Project Description: A very basic study where the discipline of aquaculture, environmental microbiology and biomedical sciences will come together to study the antibiotic residues and resistance transfer in aquatic environments. For the first time, Germ-free Artemia model system will be used to study the the fitness phenotypes of the bacteria harboring antibiotic resistant genes.
