Type of Funding: Cost is an intergovernmental framework for European cooperation in science and technology and contribute to the coordination of nationally funded research on a European level.

Cost recovery: Travel allowance for individual researchers, grants for short-term scientific exchanges and publications. Replaces overhead costs solely for coordinator.

Cost funds European "bottom-up" networks of researchers in all scientific and technological fields. These networks, called "COST actions", supports the international coordination of nationally funded research.

It does not fund research but allows the researchers tomeet and network through meetings, conferences and workshops. In many cases these lead to research projects within the EU Framework Programme.

Applications to COST follow a two-stage model where you first submit a preliminary application and then become invited to submit a complete application. For individual researchers, it is also possible to join the ongoing COST Action.

Note: It is now possible for researchers going to meetings within a COST Action to purchase these trips using their own credit cards through SLU’s travel agency Egencia. There is a special place in the travel order in which you select " COST action betalning med eget kreditkort” (COST Action payments using your personal credit card) instead of the regular payment by SLU’s Diners account.
This function should always be used when traveling to meetings in the framework of a COST network. It is only intended for this purpose. The journey should thus not be billed SLU and you should not write any travel expenses after such trips, but instead account for the cost in the e-COST system according to COST rules and get compensation to your private bank account.

Cost is continuously open for applications.
