Important things to know about zoom

Last changed: 31 August 2021

Single Sign On

Remember to always log in to Zoom with an AD account via Single Sign-On (SSO) when using Zoom. Type "slu-se" in the SSO box. Read more on the page Start using Zoom on how to log in.

Every 30 days, an automatic logout takes place in Zoom

This means that you may occasionally need to log in again, even if you have not actively logged out yourself. Login must always be done via Single Sign On (SSO) with AD name and password, either in the web portal or via the Zoom client / app.

At SLU, a regular check of user accounts in Zoom is carried out to manage accounts that are no longer used. Provided that you use your Zoom account more than every 90 days and log in to Zoom at these times, this check will not affect your account. If you take a break longer than 90 days, you will need to actively log in again to gain access to a full license.

Update Zoom

It is important to check from time to time for any updates for the Zoom client. In the Zoom client on the computer, there is a menu that opens by clicking on the small profile picture in the upper right corner of the window. The menu has the option Check for Updates, which checks if there is any update to install.

  • Zoom only allows one host meeting per user at a time, ie you can not be logged in as a host in several ongoing meetings at the same time.

  • Zoom can automatically create a meeting ID, this can be used when it is best to restrict who should be able to join the meeting. It is possible to create recurring meetings with the same automatic meeting ID.

  • Your personal meeting ID (PMI) is always the same. The people you share your personal meeting ID with can join any meetings you agree with. Use passwords for your meetings or the Waiting Room function to control who should be able to connect to your various meetings.

  • If you are recording a meeting, be sure to review the Zoom recording settings. Remember to inform all participants that the meeting will be recorded.
