The new sustainable development goals provide us with an opportunity to reframe what we mean by "forestry" and establish how forestry contributes to aspirations across the sustainable development agenda.

While the debate is often focused on global issues such as climate change, we must also address broader social, economic and environmental benefits, particularly at local scale. The seminar will suggest a reframing of forestry along these lines, corresponding also to CIFOR's new strategy.
