Application and appointment as docent at the NJ faculty

Being appointed docent at SLU is a step in the academic career and proof that the person has developed their academic expertise after being awarded their doctoral degree and that these skills are of a quality required to act as principal supervisor.

Since 1 January 2019, all four faculties at SLU have common guidelines for the appointment of docents. Read the guidelines.

You apply to be appointed docent in one of the Doctoral Education Subjects available at the faculty, and this subject must be stated in the application. Read more about doctoral education subjects at NJ here.

At any given time, you have the possibility to see what the application form for docent looks like as you can find instructions and application template below. It is recommended to read this document while working on your application as it is meant to function as a technical aid to the writing process. Application

The application for appointment as docent is processed twice a year. The application periods open on 1 December and 15 June, respectively, with deadlines on 1 March and 15 September.
